Precinct 9 • Arlington Town Meeting
A practical, friendly, get-stuff-done approach to Town Meeting
I learned a lot from my first term in Town Meeting, and I'm excited to use what I learned in a new term.
One big lesson? There's a lot we can do outside of town meeting, using our platform as TM Members and knowledge of Town government.
Here's what I worked on last year. (My term was just one year because I replaced a TMM who resigned mid-term.)
Worked with Town staff to ensure that a rebuild of the decrepit stairs from the Millbrook Square footpath to the bike path was included in the upcoming Garden 250 project plan.
Brought constituent issues (like trash collection) to Town staff who were able to help. Responded to every constituent email, focusing on actionable ways to help – not just talk.
Organized our precinct meeting. (Come to the precinct meetings!)
I'm working to make sure Arlington passes an override this spring with the Vote Yes to Keep Arlington Strong campaign. Please, vote yes: it's one of the most important things any of us can do this year to help our town thrive.
Got the Public Memorials Committee and Select Board to approve the idea of a commemoration of the spreadsheet's invention in Arlington. And got 10/17 officially declared Spreadsheet Day in town!
On a lighter note, convinced the Town to release a list of top registered dog names! Check out the YourArlington article.
Recruited 3 terrific candidates for Town Meeting, who will bring energy, expertise and kindness to the job. To wit: vote for Becca Brenneis, Ashish Mitra and Erik Holum!
Town Meeting works on a lot of important issues. But here are three that I see as especially urgent.
Transparency matters. Here's how I voted on every article at the most recent Town Meeting.
If you're interested in Town policy or having issues with town services, please reach out. I would love to talk.
